Piper + Meredith, Chapter Nine

Hey, all.

I have a new chapter for Piper + Meredith, the ninth one, ready for ya. This was originally just one half of chapter nine, but because it dragged on so long, I had to split it into two. Everything I intended for chapter ten has been pushed into chapter eleven (which I have yet to finish). No big deal, but all the drama is in the NEXT chapter, I assure you.

Here you go!

Ah! Goddamn modem? Goddamn cliffhangers. Ha ha, just kidding...sort of ;) But it was a good chapter, very informative. I really liked that you focused it on how Piper was feeling about everything that's happened and what that night with Meredith did to everyone. Moral of the story (chapter, whatever) actions have consequences. Ha ha. Can't wait for the next one. I really hope it comes soon. Keep on writing! :)

I like the holistic approach you've taken in this chapter as far as the damage caused from Piper and Meredith's encounter is concerned. Explicit acknowledgment is a good thing. The Bierce-Holland Park 'meeting' between Piper and Kristen will be interesting to watch unfold. Thought the 'seek-and-ye-shall-find' portion of the story with Piper was cool too, as it cast more nostalgic light on their relationship.

My sympathies for your modem and in a similar vein to meddjeff, I shall look forward to updates for Smells Like Sapphic Spirit, inter alia, when you can produce them. Welcome back.

It's interesting to see some of the mystery about P&M's relationship before their tryst crystallizing in Piper's recollections, first hinted at in the previous chapter, and more firmly in this one. In my mind, I was picturing something more like the rush of emotion at the onset of a relationship, where it seems more plausible (to me) that romantic passions could catch 2 people completely off their guard as they realize how well they "click" together.

But hey, I'm not the author! What you've got here works well also. Thanks for the surprise.

Hey there! Just wanted to say that I've been a fan of ALL of your stories for God knows how long.
I always wanted to ask when your sequel to "My Ice Creamy Kiss" is going to come out because I'm freaking excited for it :). Looking for your next update, cheers!

meddjeff: Yeah, Kristen was the surprise of this story. I never intended her to be as important as she ended up being, but, there you go. Hopefully my modem will hold up long enough for you to see her closure, eh? ^_^

Since chapter ten is already written and polished it won't be too long. I'll post it by Monday, once all the feedback from chapter nine fizzles out. As for my other workings? The next update will be for Schadenfreude, you can bet on that. My Ice Creamy Kiss 2 is on hiatus for a little while (until I finish up some older stuff first), Lost and Karmic is now, as far as I'm concerned, complete -- I know I was gonna do a second half but I'm not as in love with the story as I once was. Plus, the sequel I was working on (it was called Sylvie) I lost, along with all the other chapters of Single Cell Geosphere, when my computer crashed. I'd rather leave that whole series alone from now on. And Reason and Emotion? That's my next big focus after Schadenfreude and Piper + Meredith because I have new ideas for it, but I'm re-working the story from the ground up, which includes those two chapters already out there. I'll reveal more about this in the coming few days.

Wild Cat: Thanks! It occurred to me while writing this chapter that Piper hadn't really weighed up all the consequences of her night with Merry so now seemed as good a time as any. It's in the *next* chapter that Piper and Meredith really confront their issues though.

Kuimo: I'm glad you liked it! Sorry about the delay, too. My modem burning out is no one's fault but my own, but now that I have a new one, you'll never have to wait like that again. How does that sound? ^_^

Operculum: I'm glad you appreciate the change of pace there. Like I said a few paragraphs up, Piper hasn't really stopped to truly reflect on the totality of her actions thus far. Most people don't, but I often do, and I feel like it would be in Piper's nature to do the same thing.

Glad you liked the Kristen hunt too, I do worry though that Kristen has absorbed TOO MUCH playtime in this story. I never planned for her to have such import. At the most I thought of her as a repetitive obstruction to Piper and Meredith's relationship, but I get the feeling that if I re-read all the chapters, the plot would come off as some odd love triangle.

And Smells Like Sapphic Spirit? I'm still pausing to consider how Paige aught to be portrayed (I have a general idea of her but I want her to be more than a romantic antagonist to Bonnie). I'm not sure when the next update will be, probably within the next couple of weeks. I hope that's cool! ^_^

myunfinishedjourney: Thanks for the feedback, I always enjoy hearing from ya. In terms of Piper and Meredith's relationship, I always saw their night together as the culmination of many, many things. Shared sadness over Terry's absence (and later death), the closeness that two people living in such a small house creates, Meredith's suppressed sexuality influenced by Piper's sexual freedom, growing sexual attraction over the months, etc.

Attraction is important and it can be explosive, but in this context, time is more significant. Meredith is a sensible woman and I don't think she ever could've slept with Piper without two things; 1), feelings for Piper building up over time that became too hard to deny, and 2), of course, alcohol.

Plus, even if Meredith had met Piper before she met Terry, she wouldn't have started up anything with her because of the age gap, no matter how horny Piper made her -- initially. Meredith's mindset just doesn't lend itself well to spontaneity. Nothing even vaguely physical could've happened between Merry and Piper until Meredith's emotions were so strong and desperate that she stopped fighting it (which she eventually did -- that night they had sex).

Everything I've written so far is about Piper's romantic life as she waits for Meredith to face up to the reality of what that night meant, because right now, the biggest obstruction to their love is Meredith herself.

By the way, I read your blog. You're a cool dude. I haven't met many people who speak so calmly and candidly about religion. I have to ask though, aren't you offended by my 'pseudo-nihilism' or does that not bother you much? I'm honestly curious.

Anonymous: Hey there! Thanks for stopping by and giving me this feedback, I really enjoy and encourage it. My Ice Creamy Kiss 2 will be finished at some point, I'd say I'm about 40% through it, but I'm preoccupying myself with finishing my older stories first, so, it might be a while. Sorry about that! ^_^

Thanks a lot for your answers; have you take a look at Cioran since we talked about him ?

Hi Kaiser,

Paige should be more than opposition for Bonnie, so take your time, I don't mind waiting for careful plotting. Look forward to future developments. :)

Great to see a new chapter to P&M. I was literally checking everyday for an update.

I have to admit that i prefer the Emma/Summer storyline in Sapphic Spirit to the Kris/Bonnie story.

Looking forward to the next chapter of MICK. Especially since your using my character in it!
