Libraries = Mojo?

I'm beginning to wonder if location can have an effect on the way you write. It's odd, I was at my library today (the place still pisses me off -- not enough bloody seating, it's always packed, there's always someone talking on their phone and after three o'clock the schoolkids pick off all the good manga... grrr!) working on the second chapter of "The Schadenfreude of Elizabeth Harvey" and I was surprised to find that I was writing better there. I kid you not. Usually when I write first-person stories I struggle to find a 'voice' for the main character, which is why I normally avoid that format like the plague (that, and the fact that you have to repeat the letter 'I' a lot) but I didn't struggle at all with this chapter. In fact it came out better than I thought it did, and should be ready by tomorrow afternoon. The ease with which I wrote the first half of the chapter makes me wonder, does a change of scenery help the writing process, or is it just a happy coincidence? Hmm. Food for thought.

Hey, blueinthefaceangel!

I haven't heard from you in ages! You've got a blog too, that's cool. I may just stop by sometime. As for That Sapphic Jungle Fever? Ever since I lost my notes for it (computer crash) I've been kind of stuck on it, but I could always give it another look, if you'd really like an update. ^_^

I kinda enjoy the little butch/femme feeling I geet from the stories.

I get what you mean about be able to write better in certain places. I'm kind of a cliche and write better in cafes and such, not so much a library. I can't work in a place that's so quiet. Coffee shops are a great place because the atmosphere is light and fun, but it's not super loud or too quiet.
