The Clockwork Valkyrie, Chapter Eleven

Hey, all!

Chapter Eleven of "The Clockwork Valkyrie" is up on AFF.net right now. Big fight scene in this one, a bit of a reveal (though it probably isn't too much of a shock) and a nice turnaround in the whole human vs. valkyrie thing. This is the last chapter of the story, the next one will be the epilogue, and I'll post the alternate ending along with it. Have fun!

The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ

I love Philip Pullman's work. I got pulled into his sphere late (the Amber Spyglass was released long before I even knew about it) but me being caught up on His Dark Materials by now, I've really developed an interest in him. To me, he is to fiction what Richard Dawkins is to non-fiction, a great writer from a growing pool of secular humanist thought in Britain, which is why I'm moved to buy Pullman's new book "The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ".

I read a preview/except of it the Guardian yesterday, and I was briefly enthralled by it. Basically, it's Pullman's retelling of the life of Jesus Christ, except in this book, the Virgin Mary had twins ("Jesus" and "Christ" respectively) and from the looks of things they couldn't be more different. I was immediately put in mind of Nietzsche's Master-Slave morality, his criticisms of Christianity's lionization of the weak, and now I can't wait to read it. I'll tell you what I think when I buy it. ^_^

The Clockwork Valkyrie, Chapter Ten

Hey, all.

Chapter Ten of "The Clockwork Valkyrie" is up now. I definitely favour this chapter, more so than the Olga fight and The Octavia journey, because it fleshes out Valkyrie society. If I do do the prequel then I'd like to find a way to include something about their life on Yggdrasil. Its one of the few times I've liked all my ideas on a single subject.

How's it?

I have the ninth chapter of The Clockwork Valkyrie uploaded to Adultfanfiction.net right now. Again (despite a couple of big reveals) this chapter is more "filler" than meat, basically dealing with the ramifications of the fight with Olga and Milva procuring Ygg's Rood. The next chapter, Chapter Ten, is my favourite so get ready for that, and I spent a few days polishing up the ending (or to be more specific, basically re-wrote it) but I'll post both versions when we get to that.
